Oh! How I love this story! In fact it has become part of my brand, you might notice the colors on my logo! That wasn’t on accident.
My son told me this story on the way to school one day. I was so inspired I went right home and painted this Raven. Have you ever heard how Raven got his black feathers?
At one time he was just a bird, but in his heart he had what it took to be a hero. Us humans didn’t have fire back then. So this bird with a hero’s heart took a twig and began to fly, higher and higher and higher some more. His wings ached, for it is hard to continue to fly upwards, but he did continue, and just when he thought he would fall to the ground, his little twig caught fire. He had flown so close to the sun, it had caught on fire. With a sigh of relief, the bird stopped flapping and slowly, slowly, coasted to the ground, careful not to blow out his fire. The humans were overjoyed, but they no longer recognized him! His feathers had turned pure black. When his twig turned into a torch, his feathers had also become scorched.
And that, my friend, is why Raven’s feathers are black to this day.
Wonderful prints of this story painting are available. This Glicee print is printed on lovely, thick, acid free paper that feels much like water color paper. It absorbs the ink colors in such a way that the print takes on a life of its own. Soft, yet stark, vibrant and bold, the paper and ink makes the print!
All of my Glicee prints are signed, numbered and carefully packaged. All prints are 350DPI printed with Archival Ink and Acid Free Paper.
When buying the print only, prints are made for an 10x20” frame. Image size is 9x18”, so look for a mat with an opening of 8.5x17.5” for the best fit. Custom Mats can be found online.
